The Centre for Image Arts
The Academy is based in the building complex surrounded by park land beside the Basilica of Collemaggio. It houses a variety of organisations which have collectively become a centre for Image Arts with the primary aim of promoting study in the audiovisual field through innovative organisations and services.

"Palazzo dell'Immagine" is home to the following organisations:
- The International Academy of Image Arts and Sciences - A tertiary level film school.
- The offices of the L'Aquila Film Institute, "La Lanterna Magica" and of the L’Aquila Film Festival (the international festival on professions in cinema).
- The publishing division on cinema, in collaboration with the Mondadori Electa.
- The L'Aquila Film Library with thousands of 16mm and 35 mm films.
- The Regional Film Library "Giovanni Tantillo" with a collection of books and audiovisual material
- The Abruzzo Film Commission
- The offices of Cinema Massimo
The "Palazzo dell'Immagine" provides a range of film related facilities such as classrooms, editing suites, dark room, climate controlled storage for the preservation of celluloid films, film library reading room and film and video screening equipment.
