The Master

The masters programme is designed for graduates of the three year course at the Academy and is also open to graduates of OTHER DISCIPLINES related to communication, audiovisuals and mass media.

The masters course aims to prepare people who will be specialised in the planning and production of film and multimedia projects. The programme enables them to further develop and refine their particular strengths.
Course duration is twelve months and begins in November.
Course of study is carried out in three phases.

  • Phase One
    theoretical and practical lessons pertaining to film and multimedia projects
    • Pre – Production
      This includes a seminar of creative writing as well as workshops necessary to understand the organisation of film and audiovisual productions: budgeting, casting, location management and legal aspects
    • Production
      This includes workshops that explain the production stages of an audiovisual project: production design, costume design, direction, cinematography and sound recording
    • Post-Production
      Students acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge related to the use of editing suites and equipment (video and audio) as well as computer graphics.
  • Phase Two - Practical Training
    Students work in groups and are assigned specific roles under the supervision of the teaching staff and produce short films or multi-media projects.
    During the course students are given work experience placements with companies within the industry
    Work placements in 2005-2006:
    - RAI - Italian Radio Broadcasting and Television Company, the Abruzzo Region, The L’Aquila Film Institute "La Lanterna Magica, Videostar, Seven Hills Production, Titanus and Madcast.
  • Phase Three
    • THESIS
      Students conclude the Masters course with a thesis where they research a particular discipline under the guidance of a supervisor. Practical elements (video, cd-rom, dvd etc.) may also be included to accompany the written part but they play only a complementary role.
